George E. Ohr Collection
The George E. Ohr Collection of the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art includes over 150 George E. Ohr (1857 to 1918) ceramics produced between 1882 and 1910. The collection began in 1996 with the first gift of 21 pieces of Ohr pottery donated by Dr. Jerah Johnson in Memory of George Febres. The collection quickly grew to include seminal pieces such as Monumental Urn 1892, Gift of Marty and Estelle Shack and the Petticoat Vase circa 1900, Gift of David Whitney in Honor of Frank and Berta Gehry. The Museum also holds an archive of original papers, photos and documents relating to the life and work of George Ohr. The Art and Crafts pottery collection includes 38 works by Manuel Jalanivich (1897-1944), Joseph Fortune Meyer (1848-1931) and H. Sophie Newcomb College as well as archival material on Joseph Meyer.
