Join us for an immersive evening of music and art as cellist, Helen Gillet performs in Pippin Frisbie-Calder’s exhibition, Shifting Lands. Shifting Lands is a visual art series by Frisbie-Calder that examines the ecosystems of the Gulf South, particularly Louisiana and Mississippi. The series incorporates silkscreen collating techniques and mixed media painting to portray species and environmental elements from the region.
Within this space, Helen Gillet will be responding to this work with her own composition. Helen Gillet is a musician, composer, cellist, singer (Belgian French & English) improviser, and looping artist. Her prolific career has won her awards of Offbeat Best of Beat, Gambit Big Easy Awards, featured artist at the New Orleans Jazz Museum and has been nominated three times as a rising star in Downbeat Magazine’s Critics Poll.
