Artist in Residence Program
The Artist in Residence program at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum is a two-week residency within our ceramic studio at the City of Biloxi Center of Ceramics. Each resident participating is given access to produce clay-oriented artwork within the time frame. Some artists may make a body of work, others experiment with materials, or might use the time to work on a specific piece.
During the residency we expect our visiting artist to host a workshop or an artist talk as part of engaging with our studio and membership base. Resident artists are also invited to exhibit their work within the museum the following year. The first resident OOMA hosted was Hee Joo Yang, a South Korean artist based in New York. Her residency was the springboard for creating an official artist-in-residence program, now sponsored by the Windgate Foundation.
Each resident will receive a stipend of $5,000.00, housing, and studio access thanks to this generous grant.
Windgate Foundation was established in 1993 and is a private, family foundation based in Little Rock, Arkansas. Windgate’s goal is to advance contemporary craft and strengthen visual arts education in the United States. The foundation also supports children and youth in the State of Arkansas. windgatefoundation.org
