In celebration of his creative legacy, the Ohr Birthday Bash honors George E. Ohr (1857–1918), the “Mad Potter of Biloxi.” A pioneer of American ceramics, Ohr crafted eccentrically shaped, paper-thin vessels with vibrant glazes, and his flamboyant style earned him a reputation as an eccentric.
The festival at the Frank Gehry–designed Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art aligns with the museum’s mission to promote Ohr’s unique legacy and the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s cultural heritage. Scheduled for July 12, 2025, the celebration will feature hands-on clay crafts, activities for all ages, live music/DJs, and Gulf Coast cuisine by the Biloxi Yacht Club café, Mick’d Up Kitchen, and Pop Brothers.
