Printmaking Studio presents: Introduction to Etching Workshop

You too can make beautiful hand made etching prints the same way that Rembrandt made his famous masterworks! Learn how a line drawing on a metal plate is turned into a printing plate that can then be printed on paper. Learn how to etch your zinc plate, and pull a print from it on our press using traditional intaglio materials and methods under Master Printmaker, Michael Richardson.
This single session workshop teaches how to ground a plate, draw on it, etch it, and print it. All materials for this workshop provided. This workshop is the first, in a series of sessions covering various traditional hand printmaking methods such as etching, aquatint, engraving, and relief printmaking. Introduction to Etching Workshop is also required to participate in future Printmaking Studio Open Workshop Sessions held throughout the year to understand how to use the press and other equipment safely.

This Intro Class includes membership in the Ohr Printmaking Society. After completing the introductory course, members have the opportunity to return and participate in future printmaking projects as part of their membership.

Future projects are pay-as-you-go, with participants purchasing the plates, paper, and ink needed for each project.
