Mud Daubers Summer Camp: Week 3

July 7 @ 10:00 am - July 11 @ 2:00 pm

- $50.00 – $225.00

During this camp students will be introduced to a wide variety of art projects and insects! Campers will start the week with a couple of super fun ceramic projects including designing their own bug bowl and have a chance to try their hands at working on the potter’s wheel. Throughout the week, campers will also be taught how to do a realistic value drawing as well as decorating the museums sidewalks with their own big bug drawings. The MSU Entomology outreach team will partner with the museum and bring various insects for the campers to see and touch while providing interesting facts about the bugs and their environments. They will then go outside to look for bugs and collect them in specimen containers. Campers will also partake in a tour of the museum. Friday the campers will have their work displayed at the camps art show. Campers will be decorating bug cookies as refreshments for the show. This camp is dedicated to creating a safe, fun and welcoming environment for all campers.

Due to the nature of this camp, campers will need to include information about any allergies – especially shellfish, cockroach, grass, ants and bees.

About Summer Camp:

Art camp is a 4 hr program from 10 am – 2 pm held Monday through Friday; the week ends on Friday with an art reception featuring camper’s artwork.  Camp is designed for children ages 10-14; children ages 9 and under will not be admitted.  Camp is limited to twenty students per week in order to provide one-on-one art instruction. Sessions are designed to accommodate campers within a specific age range and include projects that meet their artistic skill level. Activities include  both indoor and outdoor playtime as well as tours of the museum. Please ensure your child wears close-toed shoes and comfortable clothing in which they can play, move, and paint in. Campers must pack a lunch and snack every day to eat during supervised breaks.
