April 18 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

- Free

Join us for two opening receptions for OOMA After Hours, Thursday April 18 from 5:30- 7:30 PM.  The museum will be free to guests for an evening of music and art! In the Welcome Center starting at 6:00, Shirley Wipfler will share some remarks about her exhibition and ceramics process for her exhibition currently on display in the education gallery.

In the Biloxi Center for Ceramics building in the Community Art Gallery, Fairhope-based artist, Bryant Whelan’s exhibition, Florilegium will be having an opening reception.

If you have not seen Christian Dinh’s exhibition or Frank Gehry and Robert Tannen: Art, Architecture and Ideas, both will be free and open to the public.

We’ll also be dancing to Zach Fellman’s tunes!

Educated all over the world, from Japan to Germany to Arkansas and points between, Fellman began his stateside musical education at the University of Mississippi. While that was not his final educational destination, Fellman retains the distinction of having been both lead alto saxophone and pianist for the Ole Miss jazz band.

After transferring and graduating from the University of South Alabama with a piano performance degree, Fellman went to work on an oyster boat while he pursued musical interests by night. While the day job has changed- he’s found a home in trim carpentry, as commercial fishing starts a little early in the day for a musician- the music hasn’t. Over a 20 year career, Fellman has been active in over two dozen bands, and during that time, he’s toured the country three times, performed for clients including multibillionaire Ray Dalio and celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse, opened for artists including Trombone Shorty, Biz Markie, and the late Dr. John, been part of the house band for the House of Blues Foundation Room, and has played at storied venues such as the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles.

Fellman is a multi-instrumentalist and singer who is currently active in four bands. Two of those bands, Blackwater Brass and District Lights, have amassed nine local Covey awards during the last several years. Fellman is also an active solo musician and half of a dueling pianos show, The Fabulous Flying Steinway Brothers, who enjoyed a summer residence at the Hard Rock Casino and are currently performing at the Diamondhead Country Club.

Equally at home on a private island in Connecticut or a Long Beach beer bar, Fellman brings his experience, training, and joie de vivre to every show he plays.
