Art, Architecture and Ideas: Frank Gehry and Robert Tannen, brings together over five decades of work in a range of media, including architectural models, sculpture, painting, printmaking, urban planning, and product design. Recognized as the defining architect of our times, Frank Gehry changed the cultural landscape with his designs for Walt Disney Counter Hall in Los Angeles and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, At ninety-five years old, he continues to evolve his architectural and part practices through the exploration of energy and dynamic movement. Robert Tannen’s career includes sculpture, painting, conceptual art, and urban planning. After coming to Biloxi, Mississippi to create a masterplan for the Gulf Coast post-Hurricane Camille, he relocated to New Orleans where he master planned the second span of the Mississippi River Bridge, was a founder of the Contemporary Art Center, and continues his distinctive practice of urbanism, art, and community activism.

Frank Gehry and Robert Tannen’s work have interested with major projects, built and unbuilt, in New Orleans, the Bio Museo in Panama, and the Freeman house in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Tannen, and his partner,  Jeanne Nathan, were also instrumental in the choice of Frank Gehry as the architect of the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum in Biloxi, Mississippi, Gehry’s only museum in the Southeast.

This exhibition of work by Frank Gehry and Robert Tannen celebrates and extends the creative legacy of George Ohr (1857- 1918), who is now recognized as the most significant art potter of his time.

This exhibition was sponsored in part by Coastal Mississippi and AOS.
