Jerrod Partridge | Welcome Center Community Gallery

IP Gallery

Exhibition Statement:

From March through June, artist Jerrod Partridge will serve as artist-in-residence at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art. A representational painter, Partridge brings together the discipline of academic training with a nuanced sensitivity to color shaped by the traditions of Mississippi Delta colorists.

Throughout his four-month residency, Partridge will create a body of work inspired by the museum’s distinctive architecture, ceramic legacy, and surrounding natural environment. This process will unfold as a progressive exhibition within the museum’s community gallery, offering visitors a rare opportunity to witness the evolution of the artist’s work in real time.

In April, Partridge will further engage the public through a plein air painting workshop on the museum grounds, encouraging participants to deepen their approaches to observation, composition, and technique. Notably, he is the first non-ceramic artist to be selected for this residency, marking a significant expansion of the program’s scope.

Partridge is a full-time studio artist, educator, and curator based in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He co-owns Palmette, a flower shop and gallery, and leads international Visual Explorations trips while organizing Art Space 86 initiatives. His work is widely exhibited across the region and beyond. He earned his MFA from the New York Academy of Art and is the recipient of numerous honors, including fellowships from the Mississippi Arts Commission and the Mississippi Museum of Art.
