Saucier, Mississippi

“I am a just a dirty hairy potter the piney woods of south Mississippi. Now that is out of the way down to the nitty gritty. I earned a B.F.A. in Sculpture form the University of Southern Mississippi and also a Masters of Education. I put both of those degrees to work showing high school students the wonders of art. My work is exploration of body imagery and society’s views of what is beauty. This pursuit of pushing clay to twisted, folded and luscious curves has infected my functional work. I push the form of my functional ware to play with the concepts found in my sculptural works. In doing so it creates pieces that are not just pretty in the eye but in the hand and in its successful completion of its designated task.”
