Job Title: Front Desk Representative

Job Status: Full-Time (Weekends Required)
Job Summary
The Front Desk Representative serves as the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring a welcoming and informative experience. This role includes managing admissions, answering inquiries, assisting with gift shop sales, and supporting museum operations. Strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in handling transactions are essential.
General Responsibilities
Visitor Services & Guest Engagement
- Warmly greet visitors and provide initial information about the museum, exhibits, and
upcoming events. - Assist guests with wayfinding, accessibility information, and general inquiries.
- Promote and process museum memberships, ticket sales, and class registrations and
record of roster. - Provide class rosters to educators and the studio director in coordination with scheduled
classes. - Provide an engaging and knowledgeable presence at the front desk, enhancing the visitor
experience.
Admissions & Gift Shop Operations
- Process admissions, check tickets, and handle membership sign-ups.
- Operate the point-of-sale system for ticketing and museum gift shop purchases.
- Assist customers with merchandise selection and restock inventory as needed.
- Maintain an organized and inviting front desk and gift shop area.
- Accurately handling cash transactions and maintaining a cash flow.
Administrative & Communication Support
- Answer telephone inquiries and direct calls to appropriate staff.
- Maintain accurate records of visitor attendance, membership sales, and transactions.
- Provide basic museum information, including event schedules, guided tours, and policies.
- Assist with clerical tasks related to visitor services and event operations.
- Recording visitor information and sales data as needed.
Facility & Security Support
- Open and close the welcome center in coordination with the museum schedule.
- Monitor visitor behavior and ensure compliance with museum policies and reporting any
potential issues to security personnel. - Report any facility concerns, maintenance needs, or security issues to management.
- Assist with event logistics and visitor flow management as needed.
- Ensuring the front desk area remains tidy and organized.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior customer service experience required.
- Experience handling cash and processing transactions required.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and point-of-sale systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
